Chris Kihn Minister of Worship and Music
"Worship plays a vital role in the life of a believer, whether it be private or public. The Bible says we should
'not give up meeting together...but let us encourage one another.' How great and exciting it is to come together in praise of the one true living God. The worship/music ministry at Hurstbourne offers you a variety of opportunities to take a more active role in worship such as choirs for all ages, instrumental, handbells, ensembles, solo, drama, media/sound. Sing to the Lord a new song!"
Chris has
served on the HBC staff since September 2000. He has also served
other churches in Alabama and Kentucky. He is the husband of Jena
Kihn and the father of one child. He has earned a BME and a Master of Music from Samford University
and has done post-graduate work at Southern Baptist Theological
Seminary.
Jeff Smith Minister of Education
"Christian
education should help people take their next step with Jesus Christ.
So we seek to embrace people where they are, encourage them to follow Jesus, and enable them to minister to others.
The heart of our
Christian education ministry is Sunday School, which has open Bible study
groups for all ages. I invite you to get connected to a Sunday School class, and then consider
the other educational experiences that we offer. I believe you will find
friends to help you down your road."
Jeff has
served on the HBC staff since October 2007. He has also served
other churches in Georgia, Louisiana, and Tennessee. He is the husband of
Emily Smith and the father of two children. He has earned a BA from the
University of Georgia and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.
Trent Chambers Minister to Students
and Missions Catalyst
"My
youth minister once told me that 'students are the best evangelists that
the church has.' It is my passion is to expose students to the Gospel
of Jesus Christ and to develop them as disciples as they grow in their
knowledge of God's character and understanding of God's Word. A student
consumed with who God is, and who they are in relationship to Him, will
change not only the community around them but the church as well.
The desire to equip students to minister to others has developed within
me a great conviction to see the church mobilize for ministry. Whether
it is local, regional or global, God has called the church to be active
in taking the gospel to all people. HBC has always been a mission-
minded church. It is a true blessing to work in step with the passions
of this body as we equip, train and mobilize for His Glory.”
Trent has
served on the HBC staff since October 2005. He is the husband of Emily
Chambers. He has earned a BA from Samford University and a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary.
Vince Scarbrough Minister to Preschool & Children Families
Vince has
served on the HBC staff since February 2010. He has also served other
churches in Alabama and Kentucky. He is the husband of Teresa
Scarbrough and the father of two children. He has earned a BS from
Troy State University, an MBA from the University of Alabama at
Birmingham, and a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary.
